N.303, Darjeeling Margaret's Hope FTGFOP1
RM45.00 MYR
Our Darjeeling Margaret's Hope FTGFOP1 is a autumnal harvest that is a soft astringent cup that unites fresh green shoots with brownish autumn coloured leaves. The light notes of black currant create an almost wine-like "Muscadel" character on the palate.
Tea bushes at the Margaret's Hope estate are almost exclusively China Jat (Camilia Sinensis Sinensis); responsible for the green leafed tippy appearance of the manufactured leaf and its elegant fragrance. Because the tea is grown at high altitudes (3000 - 5000 feet above sea level) and in relatively cool weather the bushes emerge slowly, and as such the production is limited.
During the 1930's, the garden was owned by Mr. Bagdon who lived in London but visited the tea garden regularly. He had two daughters. The younger daughter named Margaret, fell in love with the garden. Unfortunately, she fell ill on the ship during the return trip to England and died soon after. In her memory, her father changed the garden's name to Margaret's Hope.
